1973

The first production of 1973 was the operetta "The Great Waltz" performed in March. The music was directed by Anton Gartshore, staging by Arno Ambel, with choreography designed by Helen Syjut and executed by her dance studio. The leads for the past two productions were Bob MacDonald, Fred Webster, et al, joined by Roland White for "The Great Waltz".

The company found itself in financial difficulties after the closing of this season and, after much discussion, it was decided to adopt a policy whereby a popular musical show (Broadway-type musical or other) which would guarantee good box office receipts in order to cover the financial losses to be foreseen in classical opera or operetta productions would be performed whenever necessary. This policy remained in force throughout Sault Opera's remaining seasons after that. Herbert Johnson became president of the company.
